Smart Metering in Asia

The digital grid does not refer to the electrical current. It refers instead to an essentially a self-diagnosing grid infrastructure consisting of intelligent digital sensors.

The architecture also includes real-time decision support for customers and utilities. For example, this often includes smart appliances and thermostats that can automatically throttle energy consumption during peak load periods to avoid the necessity of rolling blackouts, etc. Utilities will generally also move towards demand-response pricing models, so that variable rates apply to energy depending on the overall load on the grid.

It is also possible to build better security into such a grid than currently exists. But some want to transmit pulses of energy -- if we had storage.

New Functions

  1. Remote meter reading
  2. New meters and switches for selective “shutouts” down to within the home or office
  3. Functions enabled by ubiquitous sensing
  4. New appliances with power cost functions
  5. Proactive control by the utility eg It turns up/down the thermostat via “Zigbee
  6. Fault detection, repair and recovery

SVNK. The maat Green's Smart Meter Model

  1. A power system made up of numerous automated T&D systems, all operating in a coordinated, efficient and reliable manner.
  2. A power system that handles emergency conditions with ‘self-healing’ actions and is responsive to energy-market and utility needs.
  3. A pwoer system that serves millions of customers and has an intelligent communications infrastructure enabling the timely, secure and adaptable information flow needed to provide power to the evolving digital economy.

(Smart+) CISMI SmartCity Model

The SmartCity concept, aims to deploy a sensor cloud collectors of information, managed and monitored by a common platform that ensures the creation of a dashboard integrated management of information collected, providing an effective model of city management.

CISMI has developed the Smart+ concept, with which it seeks to create a new model of Smart City, facilitated by the deployment of Cloud Computing Platform, integrating SCADA facilities.

These facilities manage the cloud of sensors deployed in the city. Also, the Cloud Platform, integrate the different Information Systems and Management of Municipal Utilities, generating an integrated information environment for all activities of the city.

Solid Waste Advanced Plants

CISMI is working in the development of new technologies oriented to the solid waste management. In order to eliminate this serious environmental problem,

CISMI has established a private initiative of construction and management of Solid Waste Processing plants, through a private consortium in order to offer technological advanced solutions in this area. With this new technologies, our solid waste management plants are capable of producing electric energy (up to 3Mw/h), thermal energy (up to 3Mw/h), reduction of polluting gases (CO2) and reduces the polluting sub-soil water effects.

Other sub-products are a side effect of the process as various metals, glass, paper, organic fertilizers.

For this project CISMI is leading an international consortium which integrates the best technologies and professional practices.

Description

This technology is the synergy of biological, physical, chemical and mechanical systems. Our goal is always mixing organic matter (or biomass, MSW organic microalgae, ...) with inorganic matter, that are now waste that pollute our environment, and using the latest cutting-edge technologies for the treatment, decomposition and recycling of MSW, and producing what our customers need and adjust it to their needs within the energy field, and in addition solve the problem of MSW as primary target.

Technology Characteristics

As the core of the technology we have:

  • Section of selection of Residues.
  • Production section, reception of organic matter and of the CO2 from the environment and the plant process itself.
  • Section of biomass or decomposition of organic and inorganic matter, creation of biogas, bio-fuel.
  • Section of producing electricity through cogeneration.
  • With our technology we are able to obtain different products, such as:
  • Electricity
  • Bio-fuels
  • Biogas
  • Sub-products (metals, paper, …)

Solid Waste Gasification Infrastructures

The process of solid waste gasification is an efficient and environmentally responsible process for converting low-value raw material including municipal solid waste, tires, sludge, biomass and carbon into highly valued materials like electricity, transportation liquid fuels or chemicals. In such a process, extremely high temperatures or oxygen are used to break down the molecular structure of complex materials containing carbon and these materials are then converted in SYNGAS, containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

The SYNGAS can be used for:

  • Generation of electricity with a Simple Vapour System
  • Generation of electricity in a Combined Cycle with Gas Turbine and Vapour Turbine
  • Generation of Transportation Fuels, including Diesel, Kerosene and Ethanol
  • Generation of Hydrogen
  • The elevated temperatures in the gasification zone created by the plasma-heated air permit a design both simple and highly flexible with few moving parts.
  • When this is compared to incineration or traditional gasification, the technology provided by maat Green applied to such processes offers the following benefits:
  • Range of flexibility of combustibles.
  • Combustibles like tires and municipal solid waste can be easily treated.
  • The gasification reactor allows for a simple feed system and continual oversight of the process.
  • Highly responsible in terms of the environment due to the low emissions of the effluents.
  • In addition, the inorganic components that are converted into vitreous pieces can be used as conglomerates in construction.
  • Capacity for use of the air as an oxidizing agent; eliminating the need for additional capital and operation costs required for plants dedicated to air separation.

Agricultural and Farming Waste Infrastructures

Biomass is a source of renewable energy. In fact, it is the renewable energy source that contributes most to modern-day needs. The energy obtained from biomass comes from the Sun by means of the process of photosynthesis. This is the process by which plant cells are able to form organic substances in response to both CO2 present in the air and other pure substances, taking advantage of this situation to carry out the energy process.

Of all of our energy sources, this is the longest-standing. It is also the source that has contributed in largest part to the technological development of humanity and, at present time, is the renewable energy that presents one of the best "business options" when it comes to solving modern-day energy problems.

Of the formed substances, which are referred to as carbohydrates, energy can be properly extracted by burning these substances directly, by converting them into a highly flammable liquid such as alcohol or oil, or even by transforming them into a gas.

CISMI is undertaking significant investments in the research of an energy production technology in the production of electric energy by means of the gasification of biomass generated in processes related to the harvesting activities

CISMI collaborates in the construction sector with the incorporation of energy saving and efficiency criteria into the building process.

This helps to reduce consumption and to take better advantage of renewable energies with the goal of achieving increasingly sustainable buildings.

Our Value Proposal in Bioclimate Architecture is a global solution of energy project whose focus is the latest technology as applied to the building sector around the theme of renewable energy, making use of natural resources and best interpreting these resources for responsible use.

Our Efficient and Sustainable Building Engineering Division along with our Architecture Department provide ideas and solutions adapted to each client, with the objective of minimizing the energy demand of properties and of encouraging their self-sufficiency with other renewable systems, without CO2 emissions.

Its innovative, revolutionary, exclusive and coordinated design allow for all elements (water, wind, sun and earth) to be in harmony with one another in a collaboration in which the building needs the environment and vice versa.

Energy Efficiency Infrastructures

Energy saving and the development of new energy sources are the only means that modern-day society possess to maintain a responsible yet successful level of development while avoiding irreversible damage to our planet. In order to accomplish this, experts are now turning their attention to naturally occurring elements in search of an answer: the sun, the wind, water from rivers and oceans and naturally-occurring residues from beneath the earth’s surface may all play a role.

These types of resources are naturally recurring, they are obtained in periodic manners which do not contribute to the Greenhouse Effect, they do not leave behind significant residual effects and they help bring the production source closer to the consumer.

In addition, they help strengthen energy independence, create new employment and are also less expensive than traditionally used energy.

The above-mentioned characteristics are some that best define the renewable energy sources that we have within our reach, occurring in a variety of forms: wind power, solar power, biomass, hydropower and geothermal power.

Global Warming is now recognized by governing bodies all over the world and the use of renewable energy sources represent a possible solution to the ever-worsening consequences we are facing in relation to the environment. When compared with the limited and contaminating nature of traditional energy sources, renewable energy sources constitute a beneficial system of safer, cleaner, gentler and more independent energy sources. In addition, renewable energy sources permit considerable efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Photovoltaic Infrastructure

CISMI executes, commercializes and finances photovoltaic installations with the latest innovations available on the market, at a cost always adjusted to the needs of the client. The general lines of business are: execution of projects, handling of permits/licenses, elaboration of projects, environmental studies, self- promotion and the sale of turnkey photovoltaic plants, installation of solar gardens as requested by promoters and investors, rooftop installations, maintenance, insurance and guarantees, guarantee of power for panels over a period of 25 years, control and monitoring of installations, financing and profitability.

The technology of CISMI utilizes CTS Module Technology developed by First Solar obtaining profitability up to 16% higher than that registered with silicon-based technologies.

Solar Thermal Infrastructure

A system which best uses the energy obtained from solar rays and uses this energy in the form of heat. The sun heats a detainer or solar collector, transmitting the energy to a fluid--in most cases water--, which is then used directly or ends up in a storage deposit for later use. The area of R+D of CISMI develops technology in fields of solar cooling for the production of thermal energy. Special capacity for energy storage and provision of heating and cooling, which allows for a reduction in the accumulated volume of inertia in the storage deposit.

Intelligent energy management

  • By means of a detailed control of development, the installation maintains itself sensitized. Based on the relationship between the availability of and demand for energy, the Power Station operates with a singular objective: obtaining the maximum output of the system. Communication module (acquisition and visualization of data in real-time and by remote access).
  • In addition, we are experts in projects related with low-temperature industrial installations and the sale of energy for large consumers of Sanitary Hot Water (SHW) such as hotels, residences, hospitals or sports complexes.

Geothermal Infrastructure

Geothermal energy is the heat originating from the inside of the earth that regulates the dynamic of geological phenomenon on a planetary scale. The term "geothermic energy" refers to any portion of the Earth's heat that can be recuperated for industrial use.

A Geotermal system is constituted by three principal elements:

  1. a heat source
  2. a reservoir and
  3. a fluid, the means by which the heat is transferred

The heat source can be a magmatic substance at a very high temperature (>600º C), located at relatively superficial depths (5-10 km) or perhaps in low-system temperatures, settings where the normal geothermic gradient can provide thermal energy at sufficient depths.

The reservoir is a volume of permeable hot rocks by means of which the circulating fluids can extract heat. Geothermic fluid is water, in the majority of cases of meteoric origin, whether it is in the liquid phase or vapor phase, depending upon temperature and pressure.

CISMI has fine-tuned a new technology for a Geotermal Power Station for the production of electricity and heat on the basis of thermal waters at temperatures between 100 and 150º C.

CISMI’s technology brings together teams for the development of those technological and scientific investigations necessary to address the start-up of a viable and sustainable Geothermic Power Station in collaboration with universities such and centers of investigation and development).
